A new light luxury sedan is in your future, but how should you choose it among the various possibilities? There is a glut on the market of the mid size sedan, so what should a conscious buyer decide on? One way to help decide which vehicle to buy out of many choices is to compare them. So what if you took the 2010 Hyundai Sonata and the 2010 Honda Accord? Which one is a better choice for your dollar?
Like most vehicles in their class, there’s a lot of similarities about the two vehicles. For one, they have a similar cost to the consumer, $26,550 for the Sonata versus $26,805 for the Accord, a slight advantage for the Sonata on the damage to the wallet. Both vehicles sport a V-6 automatic engine with five speeds and overdrive, though the Accord has a slight edge in horsepower. The Accord and Sonata both get the exact same gas mileage, 19 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway, a respectable number. Each vehicle can seat five passengers quite comfortably.
Both cars come with a lot of nice options and customizations. Both have sunroofs, a nice touch. Both feature air conditioning standard, but the Sonata has the capability to have different climate control settings for the driver and the passenger seat up front. They weigh close to the same, as well, the Sonata weighing 3494 pounds, and the Accord weighing 3567 pounds.
There are some noticeable differences between the cars as well, however. One big difference is in the quality of the experience for the driver of the Sonata, as far as the sound system goes. Both cars have CD players and multiple disc changers standard, but for some solid bass kick, you’d have to go with the Sonata, which has subwoofers standard – an option the Accord doesn’t even have. The interior of the Sonata is real leather – standard. Another luxury taste for the driver of this Hyundai.
All of this comes as well as the fact that Sonata has significantly better trunk space and passenger space – 105.40 cubic feet to the Accord’s 101, and more importantly, its 16.30 cubic feet of trunk space to the Honda’s 14. The Sonata comes with a superior warranty, as well: 5 years basic and 10 years of powertrain maintenance to 3 and 5, respectively, for the Accord.
