2010 Nissan Maxima vs. 2010 Honda Accord

So you are already committed to buying a new car this year. The good news for you is that there are quite a few choices for you, especially if you are looking for a four door sport sedan. Two good choices for this include the 2010 Nissan Maxima and the 2010 Honda Accord. Both sport fairly impressive stats for horsepower, 290 and 271 respectively, and that is a pretty decent amount for a four door sedan in both cases. Both cars also have similar torque, 261 and 254 for the Maxima and the Accord. Both cars boast sizable trunks, a good 14.2 cubic feet for the Maxima and 14 for the Accord, neither a number to scoff at. Similarly, both have a very similar curb to curb turning radius: 37.4 feet for the Maxima and 37.7 feet for the Accord. Both cars have significant leg room, 43.8 inches for the Maxima and 42.5 inches for the Accord. Have you been noticing a trend? So far, in all of these, the numbers have been slightly better for the Maxima.

While both sedans are fairly powerful and feel good to handle and drive, the Maxima has several additional bonuses that the Accord can’t quite match up to. For instance, while wireless cell phone hookups come standard for the Maxima, they are optional on the Accord. The Maxima also comes with power passenger seats standard, something the Accord can not quite boast. There are a few other features worth noting. The Maxima comes with dual zone air conditioning, leather steering wheel covers, and keyless start, all features that the Accord can not come with.

The Maxima comes with wheels only one inch larger than the Accord’s wheels, 18 inches versus 17 inches standard. The Maxima’s gas tank is a bit larger, holding a flat twenty gallons, a bit larger than the Accord’s 18.5 gallon tank. The Maxima boasts better cruising distance in the city, 380 miles to the Accord’s 350. It is a touch lighter as well, at 3540 pounds curb weight.

One advantage that the Accord has is a slight benefit to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. For the models compared, the Accord would cost you $26,805, while the Maxima would cost a bit more, at $30,690. On the other hand, in cars as in most everything else, you get what you pay for.
