You could read it in a blog, in a web community or even on a website like this right now. The question still remains the same no matter where you read it. Is Hyundai really thinking about the idea of making a full size truck for their customers? It seems that the news does travel fast, hot off the press.
There have been numerous reports all over the online world that Hyundai will be breaking out another breed in their lineup, a full sized truck for the US market. And why not, they already have the Sonata breaking into the news world with mastering its first IIHS Top Safety Pick. Take what you have, go further and dominate the market. Being assertive can go a long way in the automobile world especially when you are up against other heavy hitters like Ford, Dodge and Chevy.
Is it possible that they are yanking our chains around or are they serious about this? Right now car enthusiast sites all over the World Wide Web are reporting that it could be a hoax (a rumor randomly started), a marketing ploy (to get readers interested and addicted to the idea) or a slip up for other places. Most recognized on the web right now is the following excerpt:
“Hyundai Motor Co. denies that there are any current plans to bring a pickup truck of any type into the U.S. now or in the foreseeable future. Hyundai is not in discussion with Chrysler in regard to a selling a rebadged Chrysler Corp. pickup truck, or any other vehicle, in the U.S.”
While they are on both fan sites and auto review sites, it seems that this snip-it sums it up. There are no plans within the foreseeable future. What exactly does that mean though? By definition it is “capable of being anticipated”, but how long exactly is that? Are we going to wait five or ten years down the road to find out Hyundai does have plans, it’s just not in the immediate foreseeable future?
What about taking another spin on this, what if they do not plan to do this solely in the U.S.? That could leave open how many other countries worldwide that they could market to? Inquiring minds will wonder and if you give them just a hint of what may come, the imagination can & will run wild.
What can they be working up? Anyone that can pick up a paper or research using Google can tell that Hyundai does have plans to expand, but they seem to be a little hush-hush about it right now. And if not, are the basing their decision to not continue down the path that both Nissan and Toyota have already mistakenly made?
There is a difference between playing the extra hand to modify a Dodge Ram which Hyundai has recently hit the headlines about, than coming out with a full line to finally compete with the big boys, but who is to say they will? What if they are keeping their options open? They could very well do just fine and dandy having a smaller role in the large industry of pickup trucks, but without nearly as much risk. Who is to say they may not make use of this overseas only and avoid any dealings with the U.S.?
